Environment

McAfee Endpoint Encryption for Files and Folders (EEFF) 4.0 Patch 1 (4.0.1)
Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE)

 

Problem

After installing EEFF 4.0.1 you see the following warning when opening Microsoft IE:

Internet Explorer Security

A website wants to open web content using the program on your computer

This program will open outside of Protected mode. Internet Explorer's
Protected mode helps protect your computer. If you do not trust this
Website, do not open this program.

Name: McAfee, Inc.
Origin:  McAfee, Inc.
Details: ...cryption for Files and Folders\MfeFfCore.exe

Solution

This issue is resolved in EEFF 4.1, which is available from the McAfee Downloads site using a valid Grant Number.

Patches are cumulative. Therefore, McAfee recommends that you install the latest one. For information about the latest releases, refer to KB51109.

NOTE:
 You will need a valid Grant Number for access. KB56057 provides additional information about the McAfee Downloads site, as well as alternate locations for some products.
